Three Parts for Three Years

Emma Serl originally recommended Intermediate Language Lessons for Grades 4–6. Living Books Press has divided the complete work into three manageable, write-in volumes:

Part 1: Lessons 1–100 — Ages 9–10 / Grade 4
Part 2: Lessons 101–195 — Ages 10–11 / Grade 5
Part 3: Lessons 196–301 — Ages 11–12 / Grade 6

Together, the three volumes provide a complete three-year course in language arts, with each year building naturally upon the one before it.

Intermediate Language Lessons—Part 2 continues the progression begun in Part 1. Children move into more substantial work in grammar and composition while continuing with narration, dictation, poetry, literature, and oral language. Excellent writing remains at the heart of the lessons, giving students both models to learn from and something worthwhile to think about.
