A rich, year-long teaching guide created for learners around ages 10–11, or for families combining children ages 9–12. It brings together history, literature, science, and the arts in a cohesive and meaningful way.

The year’s studies weave American and world events from the 18th through the 20th centuries, with special attention to the dramatic changes of the modern era—World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II. Poetry, picture study, and composer study are integrated so that students encounter the ideas, artists, and music of the same periods they’re exploring in history.

Science unfolds through four strands—earth, physical, health, and life—guided by The Story-Book of Science and an introduction to the history of chemistry. Language work includes a full review of essential grammar.
