A Year with Landseer makes picture study easy to begin and easy to continue. Each month brings a different painting by Sir Edwin Landseer, one of the nineteenth century’s most beloved painters of animals.
Charlotte Mason herself included a Landseer picture-talk in Home Education.
Picture study is beautifully simple—until you must find suitable paintings, obtain good reproductions, print them, and remember to display a new one every few weeks.
Simply hang the calendar where your family will see it and allow the painting to remain before your children throughout the month. There are no loose prints to organize and no elaborate lesson plans to prepare.
The twelve selections include The Monarch of the Glen, Dignity and Impudence, The Old Shepherd’s Chief Mourner, and other memorable works. Each reproduction is identified by title and date, and brief instructions on the back cover explain how to conduct a Charlotte Mason picture-study lesson through attentive looking, memory, and narration.
Spacious monthly grids provide room for family plans, lessons, and appointments, making the calendar both a practical household tool and a gentle year-long introduction to a great artist.
For homeschool rooms, family kitchens, classrooms, and all who love fine art and animals.
