Our Story
Living Books Press was founded by Sheila Carroll, an educator, writer, and naturalist at heart, Living Books Press supports homeschooling families with meaningful resources inspired by Charlotte Mason’s timeless philosophy. Through stories, nature study, and hands-on discovery, we help parents nurture curiosity, connection, and a lifelong love of learning in their children.
Sheila is a lifelong educator, writer, and homeschooling mother and grandmother. Holding master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Children’s Literature, she brings both academic depth and spiritual insight to every resource she creates. Her work reflects a conviction that education is not merely instruction but formation—a way of cultivating peace, wisdom, and delight in God’s world.
From Curricula to Calling
For more than two decades, Living Books Press has served families through Living Books Curriculum, a complete, literature-rich program that guided thousands of parents in the “how” of homeschooling.
Today, our focus has gracefully shifted—from building full curricula to curating and creating living books, reflections, and courses that help families rediscover the “why.”
We believe the heart of education lies not in checklists or schedules, but in awakening the soul to truth, beauty, and goodness. Our work now centers on the resources, stories, and spiritual insights that sustain a living education: nature studies that invite wonder, books that shape the moral imagination, and reflections that remind parents of the sacredness of their call.
Living Books Press is thus both a publisher and a companion—a voice helping families walk in faith, wisdom, and joy as they learn together.

A portion of every purchase supports our schools in West Africa, where teachers are trained to use Charlotte Mason's methods, living books are provided and hundreds of children receive a living education rich in literature and dignity.
