Our Story
Founded by Sheila Carroll—educator, writer, and naturalist—Living Books Press supports homeschooling families through resources that awaken the mind and nourish the soul.
Sheila’s lifelong vocation as teacher and mother is rooted in the conviction that education is not merely instruction but formation: the shaping of wisdom, peace, and delight in the presence of God. Holding master’s degrees in Educational Leadership and Children’s Literature, she brings both scholarly depth and spiritual insight to every work she creates.
Through stories, nature study, and hands-on discovery, Living Books Press invites families to grow in curiosity, connection, and a lifelong love of learning.
From Curriculum to Calling
For over two decades, we served families through Living Books Curriculum, a complete, literature-rich program guiding thousands of parents in the how of homeschooling.
Today, our calling has deepened—from creating curriculum to curating and crafting books, reflections, and courses that help families rediscover the why.
We believe the heart of education lies not in checklists or schedules, but in awakening the soul to truth, beauty, and goodness. Our work centers on those enduring gifts:
